Susan Watson is a stained glass artist who has been in the business twenty six
years. Her career in stained glass, which began as a hobby in Pennsylvania, has
since become her passion. Susan's study of stained glass has taken her to many
states and new innovations are never far away. She has worked as a master
craftsman, training others in her trade and as an instructor of workshops at
Dollywood where she was the resident stained glass artist for 23 years. Now
semi-retired, she demonstrates her skills six days/month at Dollywood. Her work
is available at the Knoxville Museum of Art and galleries in Tennessee, Kentucky
and North Carolina.
Susan works with her clients to see the vision for the piece she is commissioned
to create. Her informal studio setting is ideal for design dialogue, color, and
texture. She also maintains a vast library of pattern books for those uncertain
of the exact style they are seeking. From a small home cabinet piece to larger
commercial assignments, Susan Watson has an eye for design and the ability to
turn mere pencil sketches into a glass reality.
Not satisfied with her art becoming just her business, she began to create and
donate windows to churches in the second and third world including Guatemala,
Mexico, Africa and Belize.
